What's Supp?
Supp is an app for Businesses and Individuals in the hospitality industry. It’s used by self-employed Individuals to pick up shifts or permanent work, and on-job skills development. Businesses use Supp to fill gaps on their roster and recruit new teammates.

What does it cost?
For temp shifts, a 12% service fee is charged on the funds sent by the business. This covers insurance, transaction fees and sales tax. You only pay once a job is successfully completed and never upfront.

Businesses set their own pay rates, but Supp has built-in minimums based on local legislation. This gives managers confidence when setting rates and helps protect workers from underpayment.

To fill permanent roles, businesses can post a Perm Ad. Each ad runs for 30 days and is paid upfront, with prices ranging from $30 to $100 depending on your region. A single ad allows unlimited hires from that listing.

How do I use Supp?
Managers can access Supp on both web and mobile. Log in from any browser via suppapp.com or use the Supp mobile app (iOS and Android) for quick access on the go. Workers access Supp exclusively via the mobile app.

‍What is Supp Payments and how does it work?  
‍Supp Payments ensures secure payment for services on the platform. After completion of a shift, the Individual agrees on the duration worked with the Business, who then records the shift duration into an in-app timesheet within 48 hours from the shift ending.

Upon the Business confirming the final amount for payment, the Business' card is charged by the Individual using Stripe, and the funds are automatically paid out to the Individual's verified bank account within 2 week-days.

‍What if the hours worked are different to hours posted in the shift?  
‍At the end of a shift the Business enters the shift duration into a timesheet. If the duration differs to what was posted, the new duration will be used for payment. The Individual must confirm their total time with the Business before leaving the venue, factoring in any breaks.

‍What if I receive a bad review?
‍Supp's reputation system is designed to establish and uphold trust in the community. If you feel like you've been unfairly reviewed, you have the option to dispute the review by contacting us.

‍How do I know the pay rate is fair?  
‍Supp has set minimum rates based on the local legislation of your city. Businesses may post jobs with a minimum 2 hour duration and at a rate at or above the legislated minimum for the position they are hiring for. It is ultimately the Business's responsibility to ensure payments are made in accordance with the legislation but we try to provide guidance for managers and protection for workers.

Individuals can configure their own minimum pay threshold to filter out work below their expected pay rate, but Supp strongly encourages both Businesses and Individuals to ensure any payment for services is being made in accordance with the legislation, before advertising or commencing any work contract. Please report any incidences where this is not the case to customerservice@suppapp.com.

Supp promotes fair wages and working conditions.

How is the Individual - Business relationship classified?  
‍Supp is a jobs marketplace where hospitality Businesses can hire permanent staff and meet self-employed Independent Contractors (‘Individuals’) who are seeking to perform ad hoc work to earn extra money. There is no employee relationship between the Independent Contractor and Supp, or the Independent Contractor and the hospitality Business.

If a Business arranges to engage the same Worker for regular shifts in a consistent pattern, Supp strongly encourages the Business and Worker to cease using the platform and engage each other directly as employer-employee. Supp strongly encourages Workers to secure permanent employment whenever the feelings of the Business and Worker is mutual, and importantly, whenever it is required by law.

‍After a shift can a Business offer an Individual a job outside of the platform?
Yes! We encourage workers to use Supp as a pathway into permanent work.

‍What does it cost?
As a worker Supp is free to use.

Workers have the option of subscribing to Supp Pro for additional in-app privileges like applying for shifts away from their home region, or accessing online hospitality training.

‍How do I use Supp?
The Supp mobile application is available on Android and Apple iOS devices. Being mobile-only ensures convenience and speed for everyone on Supp. Refer to our Community Guidelines for a deeper understanding of how to be successful when using Supp.

‍Who can apply to join the community?  
‍Anyone! All applications to join the community are welcome and will be carefully considered. Applications are processed on a rolling basis. The main criteria are competency and demand for specific skills in a given location. This screening process helps ensure Individuals are capable of performing the duties expected of them, and to maintain a healthy shift-to-worker ratio for the benefit of all existing users. Our screening process favours people with prior hospitality experience.  

‍What is Supp Payments and how does it work?  
‍Supp Payments ensures secure payment for services on the platform. When do I get paid for a shift?
‍Payouts are very fast but the schedule may vary depending on whether you are in the US or Australia.

A payout will usually take 2 week-days after the Business has processed payment for your shift.

The first payout can take up to 7 days due to Stripe's ID verification procedure. Payments are managed by Stripe, so Supp never handles funds or records anyone’s bank details.

‍Who is responsible for paying income taxes?  
‍Individuals are responsible for paying their own income taxes. Individuals may be able to claim deductions for their expenses. This should be investigated using a tax specialist. To assist with accurate reporting of income, Supp calculates and reports total Supp earnings to the Individual on a periodical basis (just after the end of the tax year).

‍Can a Business offer an Individual a job outside of the platform?
‍Workers frequently use Supp as a pathway into permanent work. Unlike agencies, Supp does not charge the Business any “poaching” fee for doing this.

‍Do I need an ABN? (Australia Only)
‍In Australia, if you plan to perform temporary work through Supp's platform we recommend you link an ABN to your profile so it can be linked to the invoices paid by the Business. More information, including how to apply for an ABN can be found here.
